J&J Jam'Soul is more than a restaurant; it's a testament to resilience, love, and the belief that dreams can be achieved against all odds. Through our culinary fusion, we aim to build bridges between diverse communities, fostering understanding and appreciation for the flavors that define our lives.
J&J Jam'Soul is a Jamaican-Soul Food Fusion Restaurant concept built from the love between Jermin Patterson and Melody Young, the two business owners. The business was created to celebrate their partnership and honor the life of baby JJ, who they lost at 6 months pregnant in the summer of 2021. Taking a closer look at the business name, "Jam" celebrates the Jamaican heritage of Jermin and all the amazing foods and flavors that he’s been cooking as a chef for over 30 years. "Soul" celebrates Melody’s southern heritage and the Soul Food that her nana and mom taught her how to cook at the tender age of 7. And "J&J'' celebrates baby JJ and the impact of his short but meaningful life!
Just like JJ came from a fusion of the two individuals, Jam'Soul comes from a combination of Melody & Jermin’s unique life perspectives and shared love for each other, food and fellowship.
